Is Your State Paying a Fourth Stimulus Check? | Read Shocked Info

The Fourth Stimulus Check is a payment made by the government to certain states as a result of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009. The checks were given to states in an effort to help them recover from the recession that began in 2007. The money given to each state was based on how much unemployment relief they received. Currently, twenty-six states are receiving Fourth Stimulus Checks.

Will SSI Get a Fourth Stimulus Check

If the President signs the legislation into law, all adults with disabilities who are still receiving benefits after October 1, 2009 will be automatically re-evaluated. If their disability is unchanged from when they received benefits, they will continue to receive SSI benefits.

However, if their disability has improved since they received benefits or if there is a change in their functional ability which can lead to independence, then they may no longer be eligible for SSI. The new re-evaluation process will take into account information such as job skills and independent living skills that were not available at the time of the original benefit determination. Beneficiaries who are found to no longer meet the eligibility criteria will have two months to appeal the decision.

Why Do I Have To Pay Taxes On My Stimulus Check?

Some people are asking why they have to pay taxes on their stimulus check even though it’s a government reimbursement. The answer has to do with the way federal tax laws work.

People who get stimulus payments from the government are considered recipients of income. That means that, according to federal tax law, you’re responsible for paying taxes on that income. In most cases, this means that you’ll have to report your receipt of the stimulus payment as taxable income on your annual tax return.

There are some exceptions to this rule. If you’re elderly or have disabilities that make it difficult for you to work, you may be able to get a refund instead of having to pay taxes on your stimulus check. You can find out more about eligibility for disability benefits and other relief programs at www.irs.gov.
